FLIR MSX Thermal Fusion Technology

The FLIR E60 features FLIR MSX, which stands for Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging. This powerful thermal image blending technology extracts the high-contrast highlights and details generated by the thermal camera’s 3.1 megapixel digital camera and overlays them with the infrared image in real time. The result is a significantly more detailed thermal image where labels, numbers, and other structural features are still clearly visible. This makes identifying features in a thermal image much easier and almost eliminates the need for a visible light reference photo. Below is an illustration of how MSX adds details to images.

FLIR Tools Mobile

The FLIR Tools Mobile App allows you to connect your E60 thermal camera to Apple, Android, and Kindle mobile devices via a Wi-Fi connection. FLIR Tools enables live video streaming from the thermal camera to these mobile devices. FLIR Tools also allows you to add further measurement spots, readjust span and level, and change palettes. In addition, FLIR Tools Mobile makes it easy to quickly create reports from findings you have imported via Wi-Fi. You can then easily email these reports to decision makers direct from the App.

FLIR MeterLink

FLIR MeterLink gives users the benefit of Bluetooth connectivity between FLIR thermal cameras and FLIR and Extech meters. With this technology, valuable diagnostic data such as electrical loads and moisture levels are wirelessly transmitted from meters to MeterLink-enabled FLIR thermal cameras so that your IR images can include these readings. This can save time when creating reports and help you determine what conditions are causing a specific thermal event.

Integrated Digital Camera

The FLIR E60’s integrated 3.1 megapixel digital camera provides clear visible light reference pictures. It includes a built-in LED lamp that doubles as a flashlight, so you can still get quality images in dark areas. The E60 also features a laser pointer for more accurate shooting. Users can aim the laser at a target reference spot and then align a marker to it in images to quickly locate important elements.

Large Intuitive Touchscreen

The FLIR E60 touchscreen provides a bright, responsive touch interface that takes full advantage of the camera’s 3.5 inch display without cropping. The Auto-Orientation feature provides easy access to diagnostics tools, plus keeps measurement and other data overlays upright no matter how you hold the camera. Plus, any adjustments you need to make a right at your fingertips with easy to navigate touch menus.

Picture-in-Picture – The E60 features a scalable picture-in-picture image mode. With it, you can overlay thermal images onto digital scenes while scaling these overlays.

Multiple Measurements – The FLIR E60 supports up to 3 box areas and 3 movable spots. This allows you to capture temperature information from multiple locations in the field of view, thereby providing more detailed temperature information.

Interchangeable Lenses & Manual Focus – The E60 supports optional wide-angle and telephoto optics, which let you capture more of a scene in one shot or get in closer to measure smaller or more distant targets. Full manual focus control lets you dial in the sharpest clarity and accuracy.

High-Temperature Range & Sensitivity – The FLIR E60 features a high-temperature mode which allows measurements of hotter-running equipment, up to 650°C (1,202°F). This allows you to see more subtle temperature patterns and greater detail with greater sensitivity.

Laser Pointer – The integrated laser pointer helps pinpoint a reference spot and aligns a marker to it on the image for precise detection.

High Accuracy – The FLIR E60’s accuracy is calibrated within 2% or +/– 2°C to meet the standard you can always trust FLIR to deliver.

Perpetual Battery Operation – 2-bay charger and spare battery option give the E60 comes with plenty of power to keep you running all day.

FLIR E60 Applications

Below is a list of some common thermal camera applications where the FLIR E60 excels. If you encounter any of these areas in your field, the E60 will help you improve efficiency and increase accuracy.

  • Electrical — Observing temperature can help locate electrical problems like loose connections, faulty wiring, and failing circuits.
  • HVAC — Thermal images can help you locate leaky ductwork and troubleshoot heating, AC, and radiant flooring issues.
  • Missing Insulation — Compare temperature differences to locate inadequate and missing insulation.
  • Water damage – Temperature differentials can reveal water leaks before small issues turn into large, expensive problems.
  • Air infiltration – Thermal images can pinpoint air leaks around windows, doors, and other building envelope structures.
  • Mold & rot – Visible temperature differences can reveal excess moisture and help avoid extensive damage and health issues.
  • Destructive pests – High thermal sensitivity lets you locate nesting insects and rodents before expensive damage occurs.
